What is the Deutschlandstipendium?

Hand in hand for top performance: promoting young talent together.

Since the summer semester of 2011, the Deutschlandstipendium has been supporting students and first-year students who are expected to excel in their studies and careers. They receive 300 euros a month - half from the federal government and the other half from private donors. This alliance of civil society involvement and state funding is what makes the Deutschlandstipendium so special. The concept of achievement on which the scholarship is based is deliberately broad: Good grades and academic achievements are just as much a part of it as the willingness to take on responsibility or successfully overcoming obstacles in one's own life and education. Scholarship holders receive the income-independent grant of 300 euros per month (in addition to BAföG/student finance services) for at least two semesters and at most until the end of the standard period of study. This enables them to concentrate successfully on their university education.

We turn half-and-half into full opportunities

Whether a commercial enterprise, foundation or alumni: with just 150 euros a month, private sponsors can make an important contribution to the training of top talent in business, science, culture and all other areas for which a university degree qualifies. At the same time, their commitment in conjunction with the universities strengthens the regional network and their own region. The universities play a central role in the implementation and design of the scholarship program. With financial support from the federal government, they approach potential donors, select the scholarship holders and organize the funding. Their neutrality and professional expertise guarantee the quality of the selection process.

Why it's worth it

Get to know potential specialists, gain insights into research and science, strengthen your regional network - there are many reasons to support the Deutschlandstipendium as a sponsor.

Not only entrepreneurs benefit as sponsors, but also private individuals, foundations and associations. They all pass on part of their own success to future generations and thus become part of a success network for Germany - for the talents of tomorrow.

Rewarding top performance, securing top positions

The Deutschlandstipendium is the largest public-private joint project in the education sector ever. More than 8,000 sponsors are already taking part. Together, they all live a scholarship culture that secures Germany's leading position in the long term. Due to demographic change, there is already a shortage of highly qualified specialists. The German higher education landscape offers unique conditions for committed and talented students. However, only around five percent of students in Germany currently receive a scholarship - there is plenty of room for improvement.

1,800 euros that pay off:

For entrepreneurs

  • You get to know potential skilled workers and can inspire them to join your company at an early stage.
  • You make important contacts with universities: with the Deutschlandstipendium, business and science network to their mutual benefit. For many entrepreneurs, the Deutschlandstipendium opens the door to further cooperation, for example joint research projects. In return, entrepreneurs become part of a lively university exchange with many university events. Some entrepreneurs even report new customer relationships thanks to these networks.
  • You strengthen your region: Structurally weak regions in particular benefit from the networking of business and science - well-positioned regions further expand their locational advantages. This facilitates the seamless transition from campus to working life and makes it attractive for students to stay in the region after graduation.
  • They receive valuable impulses: practitioners and theorists, young and old exchange ideas. For example, in the form of interesting university projects, business-related final theses by students or mentoring programs - this provides companies with additional know-how and may provide the decisive innovation boost.

For private individuals, associations and foundations:

  • They give something back: many graduates (alumni) continue to feel connected to their university. Many of them benefited from excellent study conditions as a young person and now want to ensure that future students also find the best learning conditions at their university.
  • You strengthen your region: the Deutschlandstipendium connects campus and city. The whole region benefits from this. Closer networking promotes exchange and mutual understanding, provides important stimuli in both directions and increases the attractiveness of the location. This benefits everyone locally.
  • They provide incentives for top performance: the Deutschlandstipendium is a special award for students. It rewards good grades, a high level of social commitment or the successful overcoming of hurdles in the educational biography. This encourages top performance.
  • They promote a new kind of scholarship culture: the state and society work together to make Germany strong. By joining forces, they consolidate Germany's excellent position as a science and business location in international competition for the future.

Donors

The Deutschlandstipendium supports high-achieving and socially committed young talent with a total of 300 euros per month (3,600 euros p.a.). Private sponsors provide the first half of this amount, the second half is financed by the federal government. We would like to cordially invite you to become part of our network as an alumni, as a business enterprise, as a foundation or simply as a committed citizen and to actively support high-performing, talented and responsible young people!

Scholarship holders

In addition, the scholarship is characterized by a low application effort. Take your chance and apply!
